Over the course of a few years, I helped the 3D printing company, MatterHackers. I created animated short films, developed a brand when they didn’t have anything yet, and delivered lots of miscellaneous graphic designs. It was a pleasure collaborating with them on purpose-driven concepts!

The concept of 3D printing was fascinating to me, so I jumped at the chance to create a video for an industry teeming with potential and inspiration. Before starting, and even after the video was released, there was very little out there that explained the concept of 3D printing in an approachable way. This project was an opportunity to explore new ground.

In addition to creating the video in full, I had to reevaluate the MatterHackers brand. Up until that point, their brand was loosely defined, so I didn’t have much to go by. This meant determining the essence of MatterHackers, realizing it artistically, and instilling it in the video. This meant progression, color tone, style, and much more.

MatterHackers loved the final product, and they revamped their site when the video released to better match the branding I established. I loved working with them and had a blast developing this short.

MatterControl is an original short I made a year after the first one. While the first video was about the vision of 3D printing, this second video focused on their 3D printing product, MatterControl.

The animated shorts provided the company with a wealth of graphic branding possibilities. So, they hired me again and again to design and expand their brand as they grew. I really enjoyed helping them over the years. Such a great group to collaborate with!
